Bird of Paradise – Strelitzia Reginae
The Bird of Paradise is native to Africa and augments the tropical garden with glossy green leaves and colourful flowers. It does best in full sun but can tolerate part shade. It generally grows to up to 2 meters in height and usually keeps suckering so allow plenty of room as the plant ages when planted in the ground. A slow-release fertilizer in Spring and Summer will enhance flowering. Flowers usually occur between April and November.
