Birds Nest Fern – Asplenium Australasicum

The Australian Birds Nest Fern develops fronds from a central point creating the shape of a birds nest. They do best in a shaded situation, protected from frost. Do not allow to dry out and trim spent fronds for best appearance. Mulch regularly to simulate the forest floor. Water well in the summer months – they like humidity. It is an epiphytic plant and can be grown on trees or rocks as long as regular moisture is provided. Good drainage is however essential as they are prone to root rot. Can be grown indoors or as a container plant.  Feed Lightly with Yates Dynamic Lifter Soil Improver & Plant Fertiliser which can be placed directly into the centre of the fern.
