Broad Leaf Palm Lily – Cordyline Petiolaris

The Broad Leaf Palm Lily grows to a height of 3 meters. It is an evergreen plant found in warm rainforests from norther NSW to central Queensland. It requires full shade but is hardy and easy to grow provided it is located as an understory plant. Planting in moist loamy well-drained soils with peat moss and mulch is recommended and it must be protected from frost. It is fairly slow growing but its palm-like leaves up to 90cm long add to the tropical garden. An organic fertilizer, lightly applied, during the growing season enhances leaf growth.
