Crotons Various – Codiaeum Variegatum

Native to south-East Asia, the Croton shrub come in a huge array of colours to provide a colourful ambience to the tropical garden. In temperate regions they need protection but grow well outdoors in the appropriate location. They also make excellent indoor plants. Again you must mimic their tropical environment. Bright indirect sunlight with filtered sun, moist soil but well drained with misting to increase humidity is also of benefit. Crotons are slow growing and once established with good feeder roots can tolerate periods of dryness. A rich organic well-drained soil with plenty of mulch will emulate that which occurs in their natural habitat. The sap maybe toxic to pets.
