Dwarf Cardamom – Alpinia Nutans
The Dwarf Cardamom is a small fast-growing ginger with lush foliage. It is very cold tolerant and excellent for borders or an understorey infill. However the Dwarf Cardamom is very frost sensitive. It will tolerate full sun but also happy in part shade avoiding the hot afternoon sun. As with all gingers a moist well drained soil supplemented with mulch and peat moss is where they are happiest. Grows 1 to 1.2 meters in height. Fertilize with blood and Bone or Liquid Seaweed during Spring and Summer for a lush dense foliage. It has attractive shell-like flowers that contrast with the lush dense foliage.
