Pandanus – Coastal Screw Pine – Pandanus Pedunculatus

Pandanus Pedunculatus is native to coastal areas of Queensland and Northern NSW. It prefers full sun but will tolerate part shade. Its natural habitat is well drained sandy soil. When planting it is advised to add some washed river sand to the mix to ensure good drainage. If soils are heavy clay ensure a rubble drainage wick is dug on the low side so the root ball won’t sit in water during periods of heavy rain. The Coastal Screw Pine has spiral leaf arrangement as it unfolds and is a true specimen plant enhancing the tropical garden. It may spread to 5 meters with a height of 12 meters.
