Silver Plumb Bromeliad – Alcantarea Silver Plumb
The Silver Plumb Bromeliad is one of the few Bromeliads that can tolerate full sun as long as their leaf reservoir is full of water. It prefers a well-drained medium – often orchid mix should be 50% added when planting. It is a large Bromeliad and required sufficient space when planting to appreciate its full structure. Greenish-grey leaves are coloured maroon underneath and it is an excellent attrition to the tropical garden. They also make excellent pot or tub specimens. Protected from frost, they will grow well in temperate and sub-tropical locations. Fertilize in spring with an organic liquid fertilizer at half strength concentration.
