Madagascar Cycad – Cycas Thouarsii
Madagascar Cycad (Cycas Thouarsii)
The Madagascar Cycad has confirmed fossil identification dating back to 140 million years. It is faster growing than most cycads. It is best planted in part shade in a well-drained soil with plenty of mulch to emulate its natural habitat. Water well and spray the leaves during the hot summer months. In natural habitat the leaves can grow to 3m in length. Position in a location protected from frost as the leaves may be damaged and brown if exposed to frost.
