It can be grown as a tree outdoors contributing a unique leaf structure to the tropical garden. They are very hardy It does well in semi-shade and adapts to most soil types. They are drought tolerant, and the root development may be aggressive in ground – so plant away from underground pipes. The leaves are stiff and sword-like with an attractive red edge. They make an excellent indoor plant and are easy to care for with bright indirect light. They are a healthy choice as they have been found to even remove formaldehyde from the air in studies by NASA.
